Cue the Rocky Horror

I've been sitting on this news for weeks, but now that the boxes are piling up in the dining room there's no sense hiding it anymore:

I'm going home.

One of the other reasons I didn't do any blogging in May was that, just as Christy and I were starting to fix the house up for sale, I learned about a job opportunity at a DC university.  Two weeks and one whirlwind interview process later I got the offer, and it's taken every particle of my will to contain myself since then.  Judging by those Metro posts I didn't contain myself very well, but at least I managed not to shout the good news from the rooftops before notifying my current and soon to be former employer.

Now the negotiations are done, the paperwork is in, and I can finally start shouting, but I find I've gotten used to the good news.  That's just as well:  nobody likes a gloater.  Suffice it to say I'm thrilled to be moving on to a better job, and in my home town no less.  I was beginning to worry I wouldn't make it back until retirement.

I'll be there Saturday.

Dude, congrats!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Dude. Between this, Matt's marriage, and Tony placing in the Writers of the Future contest, maybe I should go on ASH hiatus too! :)

Thanks to everybody for the kind words.

So you heard about the wedding too, eh, Dave? I thought I had the best news and then Matt had to trump me this weekend... :)

Mazel *and* tov.

If you have already signed, can you name the University?

Dude, congrats. I still get into town quite often. In fact, I'll be there on the 12th if you have time in the evening.

Wow, congrats!

Heh. I still think your news is pretty damn good, man.

Congratulations! And to Matt, too!
